My Favourite Universal Resort Attractions

The Universal Resort theme parks - Universal Studios and, Islands of Adventure - are probably my fave two theme parks in Orlando. I love Disney, but the Universal rides are just tailored to what I prefer, so they are perfect - even if Disney has stepped up their ride game recently (hello Tron!)

The rides here are incredible, and though I couldn't get my camera on any of the rides, due to the metal detectors and no-bags policy on a lot of the rides, I just got to be in the moment and enjoy the rides. Here's a list of the ones I really enjoyed, and in no particular order.

Harry Potter & The Forbidden Journey

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit

The Incredible Hulk Coaster

Harry Potter & the Escape From Gringotts

Jurassic Park River Adventure

Dudley Do-Right's Rip Saw Falls

The Bourne Stuntacular

All of these the rides that we went on, were AMAZING - but these are my top rides from both parks.

On Rip Saw Falls, we got so wet on it, that I was literally dripping water the entire way back to the car! Escape from Gringotts was so awesome, but the que time had jumped up to over an hour during the time we has queued for 10 minutes, went on the ride, and then came off of it.

I also cannot stop raving about the Bourne Stunt show - I've never seen anything like it, and it was so good, we saw it twice!

What are your fave attarctions at Universal and Islands of Adventure? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

Universal Studios Florida Bucket List: Updated

Universal Studios Orlando, is another one of my fave places on this planet (second to Disney!). The thought of being there makes me immensely happy, but being there is a whole different thing. The screams of being on The Mummy, watching the James Bourne Stunt Show, watching Marilyn Munroe perform in the streets - it's just amazing.

In 2017 before I went to Florida for the first time in a while, I made this bucket list of what I wanted to do. Since then, I've been three times, so here is what I have and haven't yet done off the list!

  1. Meet the Marvel characters ✔️
    • This is a yes and no - we met Spider Man in a store, but haven't yet seen mat any other characters from Marvel!
  2. Ride the Hulk Coaster ✔️
  3. Go on the King Kong: Skull Island ride ✔️
  4. Watch the 8th Voyage of Sinbad show ✔️
  5. Visit Hogsmeade ✔️
  6. Visit Diagon Alley ✔️
  7. Try Butterbeer again
    • Ended up remembering I didn't like it during a brief visit in 2013, so don't want to try it again!
  8. Have a picture in front of the big 'globe' ✔️
  9. Go to Volcano Bay
    • We're not huge on waterparks, so this is currently off the list!
  10. Meet the Minions
    • I saw them in the parade if that counts!?!?
  11. Go on Jurassic Park River Adventure ✔️
  12. Brave going on Rip Ride Rock It! ✔️
  13. Try Duffbeer
    • Soooo I no longer drink at all, so this is off the list!
  14. Buy a wand in Ollivander's
    • The queues for this are ridiculously long, and also my love for Harry Potter has dwindled a little over the last decade, so this isn't something I feel a need to do anymore.
  15. See the Blue Man group
    • We thought about going. Hurricane Irma hit. We forgot about it. By 2019 the show had pretty much stopped.
  16. Watch one of the daily parades ✔️
  17. Watch the Blue's Brothers ✔️
  18. Meet a Raptor
    • Honestly, forgot all about this one, so maybe next time!!
  19. Go on Dr Doom's Fearfall ✔️
  20. Race through New York with Jimmy Fallon! ✔️

Is there anything I've missed from the list that you think I might want to do? Please let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

I'm Going Back To Florida!

I've been buzzing to do this post since Easter, and now I finally can! If you haven't guessed yet from the title, I'm heading back to Florida!! Aka, the land of Disney, Universal, sunshine, good food, and more.

We decided last November that we wanted to go again, and after a quick evaluation of the budgeting for it, we were able to pick dates that meant I could save up enough to head back. We started properly planning it all in April this year, and I am beyond excited. We're going in the first half of 2019, so not long to wait for my next visit.

It took a while to get the holiday booked off from work, but so happy it finally came through in September, as it meant I could start booking things.

We're staying at the same villa as last September, as we adored the villa so much. It had everything we needed - the pool is the main fave - plus it was only a 10-15 minute drive from Disney and Universal on a good day of traffic. There is a Walmart, CVS and Walgreens nearby, so we can get everything we need really easily. Due to us having power issues during Hurricane Irma, the people who own the villa have been incredibly nice, and gave us a £200 discount for this trip to make up for it; even though it wasn't their fault and they couldn't do anything, this is beyond kind of them.

We chose to go with British Airways to fly there again, as they are the only company I've flown with and haven't yet had a bad experience with them. We purchased the flights, and the car hire from Avis at the same time back in September as a package deal, and we managed to save £500 for the three of us. We had a silver Chevrolet last time, which I wouldn't mind something similar again, as long as we don't have another spider infestation!

Spiders you ask? Well the car in the above image seemed to have a spiders nest somewhere in the car, and for the life of us we couldn't find it, but everyday a few tiny spiders would be dashing about over the seats or dashboard - until our second week when it was 34°c, there was about 150-200 tiny spiders that just erupted over the backseat, and crawled all over my sister and I... It's hilarious now, but my lord, my heart...

ANYWAY...We're getting our tickets from Attractions Tickets Direct again, as they are honestly the best company to get your tickets from. We're currently waiting to see what the next 'free' attraction is on offer before we buy our tickets, so should be doing that this month! Once that's all done, we only have a few other things to sort out, and we're done.

The tickets we purchased last time, and again for this trip, is the Orlando Freedom Ticket. This enabled you to go to all the Disney parks, Disney water parks, Universal parks, Volcano Bay, Sea World, Aquatica, and Busch Gardens. We've never done Busch Gardens before, so we're going to give this a shot for this holiday, and see what it's like. We're also hoping to do a water park this time, as last year the plans for that were knocked aside due to the hurricane! We also buy tickets separately for Kennedy Space Center, which is another day we all enjoyed last time.

I am soooooooo excited to be going again, and incredibly lucky to be able to go back again, so soon after the last trip. If you have any tips for Busch Gardens, please pass them along as we've not been before and don't know what to expect. What parts of Florida would you also recommend visiting? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

Orlando Holiday Diaries Round Up!

Now that all of my Holiday Diary blog post from my Florida holiday have gone up, I wanted to do a round up post of all of them. This way you can easily pick a day, a park that interests you, or this can act as the index for you to locate them all from!

It was such a fun holiday!

I really wish I had started and finished the posts a lot sooner, and closer to when we actually came home - and not finishing this all 10 months after it was all over! Hope this helps you find what post interests you, and hope you enjoy them all.

If you're interested, here are all the other posts related to Florida/Orlando that you might find helpful if you're looking to take a holiday there, or you wanted to check out some of the hauls I shared.

If I do any more in relation to the holiday, I'll update this list when the time comes.

What day/post is your favourite? And which park is the one you're most interested in visiting for yourself? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

5 Helpful Websites For Planning A Holiday In Orlando

Before our holiday to Florida last September, I spent ages going over websites, pinterest pins, and YouTube videos to help me plan. I used all of the below sites, either before or during our stay. They all helped pick out things to do, places to eat, and even what fastpasses to pick for Disney!

If you're planning to go to Orlando any time soon, hopefully these site will help you.

WDW Prep School
If you need any sort of information about Disney, this is the best website I have found to help. This helped me decide on when to go, fastpass+ selections, and many other choices. There's a helpful crowd guide for each month, or the year, plus everything you need to know about the rides, food, or hotels.

All Ears
Perfect for the latest news about the going ons in the parks, and about any events. They also have a super helpful restaurant guide, with all the menus and prices - which I poured over each day before we went to a park, so we could figure out what money we would need, and where to eat.

Florida Department Of Transportation
If, like us, you hire a car - you might want to familiarise yourself with the I4. This is the main highway though most of Florida, and Orlando itself. This link part of the website, has all the exits listed, so you can figure out which turning you need in advance! And not do what we did, which is arrive in the early dark evening and not be 100% sure where you're going.

Visit Orlando
A super helpful website for all details about Orlando. Such as malls, attractions, places to eat, and local golfing spots. There's a trip planning section, as well as a discount section, You can spend a lot of time learning about the area and other things to do, that are not just a theme park.

Undercover Tourist
I found this site from their YouTube page, where they show a lot of POV ride videos. Their blog, has a crowd calendar for all the parks, theme park plans, and they even have their own app. You can check out a lot of the theme park news, and even check hotels and car rentals via the site.

Hope you find these helpful if you're thinking of planning a trip to Orlando. Honestly, that I4 exits chart would have been so incredibly helpful when we went! What sites do you use to plan a holiday? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

Orlando Holiday Diary: Day 15 - Islands Of Adventure!

Our second to last day was an early start to head to Islands of Adventure for the day! We had the rest of the park to do, and then would go back to Universal for the last part of the day.

We headed into the Marvel area, and straight through to the Jurassic Park River ride. It was closed for maintenance last time we had come, so wanted to get the water ride out of the way so we could dry off.

After the Jurassic Park ride, we went back to the Marvel section, and went on: The Hulk, Dr Doom's Fearfall, and Spider-Man's Adventure. Sadly the Fantasic 4 ride was shut for some issues, so we skipped it.

From here, we went to the Poseidon Fury attraction, which is a walk through show. It's a really good attraction, and is a good indoor, air-conditioned thing to do in the heat!

Dad was let loose with Poseidon's trident, so we took some fun pictures of him with it! After this, we wanted to see the Sinbad show, but it was a bit early for the show time, so we wandered off to Hogwarts...

We went in the shops again in Hogsmeade, so we could waste 30 minutes before the show, before going back to Sinbad.

We loved this show when we went in 2001, but it's not such a popular one now, so there are a lot of seats going spare during the show. There was also a wet zone which soaked some poor woman a few rows ahead of us! I still liked the show, but it's a little dated now - even with the addition of a Miley Cyrus Wrecking Ball joke.

After the show, we headed to the Comic Strip cafe to get some food as we were starving! I had a pizza and side salad which was delicious, and even came with garlic bread - I was so full up after this!

From here, we got into a small queue for the Hogwarts Express to Universal Studios, and got to see the ride for the other direction.

We went into some of the shops again, before making our way to the exit, and bought far too much again! We headed back to the villa and chilled for the evening, before it was our final full day tomorrow.

What's your fave ride in Islands of Adventure? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)
